Engagement Letter

Important dates and FAQs

Usually, the IRS allows electronic filing sometimes at the end of January of the following year. It is advisable to start gathering your paperwork beforehand.

January – the end of January is the due date for the employers/businesses to file most of the informational tax returns such as w-2 and 1099s.

February – the e-filing for the federal tax returns is open.

We highly recommend bringing, mailing, emailing, or sending via the portal all the paperwork between February 1st and March 25th. If the information is received between March 25th and April 1st, the tax return may or may not go on extension.

If we receive the information after April 1st, the completion of the tax return before the Tax due date is not guaranteed!!!

For those who filed for an extension, be advised that the extension DOES NOT extend the time to pay, only time to file! Make sure you send payments with the extension to avoid penalties.

If the extension was filed for you, make sure we have all the information prior September 5th, otherwise the timely filing is not guaranteed.

October 15th is the filing date for the tax returns on extensions: 1040s and C corporations.

September 15th is the due date for the tax returns on the extensions: partnerships and S corporations.
